- a) Foreign Employee Tax Support Services
As part of our support for expatriate tax compliance, we will assist to ensure that all foreign employees fulfill their tax obligations during their assignment in Kenya.
Our scope of services will include:
- Conducting comprehensive tax orientation sessions at the commencement and conclusion of the assignment;
- Facilitating registration of expatriates with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) for Personal Identification Numbers (PINs), and enrollment with the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF);
- Preparing and filing annual income tax self-assessment returns on behalf of the expatriates; and
- Handling general correspondence and routine inquiries with the relevant authorities regarding expatriate tax issues.
In delivering these services, Salesa Tax Africa will act as your designated immigration consultant. Accordingly, we will request that the Immigration Department direct official communication to your office, with copies sent to us. In cases where correspondence is sent exclusively to you, we request that you forward to us any documentation relevant to the scope of our services.
b) Cross-Border Mobility and Immigration Support
As part of our immigration support services, we will undertake the following responsibilities:
- Providing guidance on the appropriate immigration category and entry documentation required for each expatriate;
- Drafting necessary application documents and sharing them with you for finalization on company letterhead and signing;
- Coordinating the preparation of applications for work permits, special passes, pupil passes, and visitor passes, based on the documentation you provide;
- Reviewing all submitted applications to ensure they are complete, accurate, and aligned with regulatory requirements.
- Lodging applications for work permits, special passes, pupil passes, and visitor passes with the Department of Immigration;
- Assisting the Company in drafting and reviewing all necessary correspondence with immigration authorities in Kenya;
- Monitoring and responding to queries or follow-up requests from the Immigration Department;
- Facilitating the endorsement of relevant permits and visas in expatriates’ passports;
- Assisting in the acquisition and follow-up of alien cards for approved work permit holders;
- Handling the application process for defendant passes where applicable;
- Providing weekly status updates to keep you informed on the progress of all pending applications;
- Maintaining a tracking system for permit and pass expiry dates and issuing timely reminders for renewal action, as necessary; and
- Offering updates and strategic advice regarding any changes to immigration laws, policies, or administrative procedures.
